Description:
The Boeing 757-200 is a medium- to long-range narrow-bodied aircraft that was manufactured starting in the early 1980's. With its aerodynamic and sleek contours and using one of two powerful engine types, the 757 was a very fast and fuel efficient replacement for the aging 727's. Northwest 757's utilized Pratt & Whitney 2037 engines that produced 39,000 lbs of thrust per engine. The 757 has a glass cockpit and state of the art computer flight systems, that put it way ahead of its time when it first hit the market in the 1980's. Northwest received its first 757-200 in 1985 and was primarily used domestically, although certain models were later fitted with winglets and were used on some short- to medium- range transcontinental routes. Northwest flew the 757-200's until the merger with Delta in 2009.
