The Boeing 727-200 is a short- to medium-range narrow-bodied aircraft that was derived and stretched from the 727-100 in 1967. It is powered by three Pratt & Whitney JT8D-15A engines with a thrust rating of 15,500 lbs of thrust per engine and was considered one of the workhorses of commercial aviation. Northwest Airlines was the first commercial carrier to receive and fly the 727-200 in 1967. Northwest flew the 727-200 until they were retired in June of 1993 when they were being utilized for charter operations.
