Description:
British Aerospace (BAe) began manufacturing the Avro in 1993 and is a short-range narrow-bodied aircraft. The aircraft were introduced into service with Northwest Airlink in 1997 and were operated by Mesaba Airlines. The RJ-85's are powered by four Honeywell LF507 engines which produce 7,000 lbs of thrust per engine. Northwest Airlink and Mesaba were the largest operators of the Bae146/Avro RJ-85's in the year 2000 with a total 36 in their fleet. Northwest Airlink retired its RJ-85's in 2005.
