Description:

The Airbus A320 is a short- to medium-range narrow-bodied aircraft that was first manufactured in the mid-1980's with its first commercial flight occurring in 1987. It is powered by two CFM56-5A3 engines each with a rated thrust of 23,500 lbs. Northwest took its first delivery of the A320 in 1989. It was the first commercial airplane to use the digital 'Fly-By-Wire' flight control system which utilizes two off set joy sticks for the Captain and First Officer sides of the cockpit. Northwest used the aircraft on domestic routes all until they merged with Delta Airlines in 2009.
