The Boeing 747-200F is a long-range wide-bodied freighter aircraft that was put into service in the 1970's. It is powered by four Pratt & Whitney JT9D-7 engines with a thrust rating of 47,900 lbs of thrust per engine. It has a payload capacity of over 105 tons and a Maximum Takeoff Weight of 833,000 lbs. As of 2006, Northwest Airlines Cargo was the largest cargo carrier among U.S. combination passenger and cargo airlines. NWA Cargo's fleet of dedicated Boeing 747 freighter aircraft flew from some key cities in the United States and East Asia, as well as Amsterdam, connecting with the carrier's cargo hub in Anchorage, Alaska (Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport), facilitating the quick transfer of cargo between large cities on both sides of the Pacific. NWA flew cargo routes until the merger with Delta in 2009.
